Answard Privacy Policy
Effective date: 10 October 2026
Answard ("Answard", "we", "us") is an Android app that screens incoming calls and includes an assistant called Ask. This policy explains what data Answard handles, where it goes, and how you can delete it.
1. Who Answard is for
Answard is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not designed for children.
2. What stays on your phone
Call screening runs on your phone. The following are stored only on your phone, and Answard does not upload them:
- your contacts;
- your Family and groups;
- your screening rules and schedules;
- your call history and activity records.
3. What our server receives
Answard runs a server, hosted on Google Cloud, for sign-in, trial and subscription status, and Ask. Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- Sign-in. When you sign in with Google, your phone sends a Google sign-in token to our server. We use it only to confirm your Google account. We then derive a pseudonymous account identifier from your Google account ID. The token also carries details such as your name and email address. Our server checks the token in memory and does not store or log those details.
- Account records. Under that pseudonymous identifier we store:
- your trial and subscription status;
- your Ask usage counts, for example how many Asks you have used this month.
- Technical data. Like any internet service, our server receives basic technical information with each request, such as:
- your IP address;
- the time;
- the type of request.
Our hosting provider keeps these request logs for up to 30 days for security and troubleshooting. They do not contain the text of your Ask requests.
4. Ask
When you use Ask, the text of your request is sent through our server to Google's Gemini AI service, which works out what you want. Answard then shows you a confirmation before anything changes.
- Hiding names and numbers. Before a request is sent, Answard shows it on a "Hide personal details from AI" screen. Tap a name or phone number there to hide it, and Answard replaces it with a placeholder before the request leaves your phone. Anything you do not hide is sent as you wrote it, and so are the ready-made suggestions you tap in Ask.
- Google's handling. We use Gemini's paid service. Under Google's terms for that service:
- Google does not use your requests or its responses to improve its products.
- Google keeps them for a limited period, solely to detect and prevent abuse and for any required legal or regulatory disclosures.
- Google may store them transiently in any country where it operates.
- Google processes this data for us as a service provider.
- Our server. Our server does not store the text of your Ask requests.
5. Microphone
Answard uses the microphone only when you tap the microphone button in Ask. Your phone's speech recognition service turns your speech into text. On most phones this is a Google service, which may process the audio on Google's servers under Google's own terms. Answard receives only the resulting text. It does not record, store or send audio itself.
6. Permissions
Answard asks for:
- call screening, to decide which calls ring;
- contacts, to let you choose who can reach you and to recognise callers on your phone;
- phone state;
- making calls, for call shortcuts you set up;
- notifications;
- alarms and start-up, so schedules keep working;
- microphone, for voice input in Ask.
7. No ads, no tracking
Answard contains no advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell your data.
8. Deleting your account and data
- In the app: go to Account → Delete my data.
- If you are signed in, Answard first deletes your account on our server, then erases Answard's data from your phone.
- If our server cannot be reached, nothing is deleted. You can try again, or choose to erase only this phone's data.
- On the web, without the app: visit https://answard.com/delete, sign in with the Google account you use with Answard, and confirm. This deletes your account on our server.
- It cannot erase data on a phone you no longer have.
- Uninstalling Answard removes its data from that phone.
- What we delete on our server:
- your account record;
- your trial and subscription status;
- your Ask usage counts.
- What we keep: a pseudonymous marker that lets us recognise whether the same Google account has already used the free trial.
- It contains no name, email address, phone number, contacts or Ask content.
- We keep it for 1 year after your account is deleted, then it is removed automatically.
- What expires on its own:
- request logs held by our hosting provider expire within 30 days;
- requests held by Google for abuse monitoring expire under Google's terms.
- Subscriptions: deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in the Play Store.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. We will tell you in the app about significant changes.
